Socialprotection.org Webinar (25/08) Integrating social protection with child protection services for better outcomes for children
IPC-IG and UNICEF
Event details
Description
This session will have simultaneous interpretation to Arabic.
In this webinar, the results of the study on Why and How to integrate Social Protection (SP) and Child Protection (CP), particularly through the Social Services Workforce (SSW) will be presented. This systematic and integrated response of SP and CP can improve the results and efficiency of both SP and CP, by contributing to the improvement of coordination, increasing the ability to respond to social protection's complex needs, resilience, and human resources efficiency (Sheahan, F. 2011). The integrated response has the potential to enhance impacts in non-monetary areas of well-being, help to increase the coverage of CP schemes, and allow a better distribution of resources and planning of the workforce to provide SP and CP’s services.
The study developed by IPC-IG and UNICEF MENA Regional Office analyzed five case studies that demonstrated how to combine SP and CP, focusing on improving efficiency, especially of SSW, and improving expected results of SP and CP. The case studies show different ways to combine SP and CP, focusing on improving efficiency, especially of SSW, and improving expected results of SP and CP.
In this webinar, two of this study's cases are going to be presented, the Brazilian and Moroccan cases. Brazil has one of the most comprehensive SP systems, that also incorporate CP services, under the same management and planning. In the MENA region, countries usually have less integrated SP and CP systems, but there are some examples of good practices, as observed in Morocco, that is developing a new CP service, and providing SSW with training and case management to improve the provision of the services.
