Description
Female leaders in Kenya’s KANU party gather for an intensive training on leadership, advocacy, and inclusion.
On July 22–23, 2025, women leaders from the Kenya African National Union (KANU) participated in a two-day capacity-building workshop in Nairobi, organized by KAS Kenya under the WYDE Political Parties project.
The sessions focused on understanding internal party structures, exploring KANU’s legacy and future for women, value-based leadership, and strengthening peer support networks. Participants discussed real challenges facing women in politics — including sexism, exclusion, and harassment — and co-developed strategies for building safer, more inclusive spaces.
Interactive exercises, mentoring activities, and group reflections helped shape personal leadership roadmaps and fostered new alliances for collective action.
This initiative highlights WYDE’s ongoing efforts to boost women's participation in party leadership and democratic processes.
