Team Europe Democracy Network Annual Meeting

We are delighted to announce the Second TED Network Annual Meeting on 13-14 June 2024, in Brussels. This year marks a milestone for democracy as it is a "super election year" with major elections worldwide. Coordinated support for democracy - at global, regional, national, and local levels - is more important than ever, particularly in light of the unsettling trend towards autocratisation. It's in this context that it is crucial for democracy support actors to coordinate their efforts and learn from one another. The TED Network’s Second Annual Meeting will facilitate a practitioners’ space to share lessons learned, strengthen evidence-based policy dialogue and formulation, and foster joint collaborations with the aim of increasing the impact of democracy support interventions.

The Annual Meeting will gather a variety of actors from civil Society, NGOs, and policy makers to meet and discuss democratic principles. The event will kick-off with opening remarks from Ms. Jutta Urpilainen, the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships and Ms. Caroline Gennez, the Belgian Minister of Development Cooperation and Major Cities, who also currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU. 

Throughout panel discussions, we will place special emphasis on topics such as “Fostering Civic Space in Partner Countries” and “Advancing Rule of Law and Combating Corruption” as well as hold a deep dive into the topic of elections. The event will provide space for focused discussions and networking opportunities.
