In the light of the results of the recent EU report – Effective Development Co-operation: Does the EU deliver? – and following the related Infopoint session of the 16th September 2020, the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) and the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO) are organizing an in-depth webinar on November 23rd to further discuss the implications of the study findings and how they can be used to elaborate improvement strategies.
In our efforts to make the Development Effectiveness agenda regain momentum, the webinar aims to keep the debate alive and involve different development cooperation stakeholders (International partnership networks, CSOs, Donors and Partner Countries).
The event will be informed by the most recent developments in the global discussions on how to keep up-to-date the evidence base in order to guide efforts for greater effectiveness of development cooperation. In particular, the lessons from the above mentioned EU report will provide a thought-provoking starting point with suggestions on how to modernize the Busan monitoring framework. The webinar will offer a space for an informal dialogue to better understand opportunities and challenges on the road to the third High Level Meeting of the GPEDC.
The webinar will focus on:
- Implications of Covid19 crisis in securing that effectiveness agenda will have greater value from the current level of public financing for development.
- How to modernize the Busan effectiveness framework in order to ensure better impact of development cooperation.
- Possible scenarios for a new development effectiveness framework: exchanging views and perspectives.
