Description
UNCCD 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification) will be a landmark event, taking place from 2-13 December 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
As the largest UN land conference ever and the first held in the Middle East and North Africa, it comes at a critical time for addressing desertification, land degradation, and drought under the theme Our Land. Our Future.
This conference, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, represents a unique opportunity to boost global ambition and action on land restoration.
With 197 Parties—196 countries and the European Union—gathering for the event, COP 16 will serve as a game-changer, driving investments and solutions to strengthen land and drought resilience, prioritising the well-being of people and the planet.
