"Unlocking Private Sector Finance for Adaptation"
Description: This side event showcases ways to engage with the private sector early in the elaboration and implementation of national adaptation processes, and to crowd in private sector finance for their implementation using innovation and blended finance approaches. The session will bring out key messages on best practices to mainstream private sector engagement in National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and concrete examples on financial solutions to attract and de-risk private sector investments.
Time: Saturday, November 12, 2022 | 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM

"Financing Adaptation for Implementing 10 Principles for Effective Action"
Description: The UNEP-hosted GlobalABC points to challenges for climate adaptation progress and development globally, with a particular attention in African and Asian countries where ability to attract investment is limited. However, southern countries present great opportunities to install new renewable energy capacities. Investment aimed at overcoming hurdles in a local context is critical, particularly for progress in the energy, building and construction sectors, through the 10 principles for effective action. Momentum around climate change adaptation seems to be higher in political discourse and adaptation and finance are two of the key goals of COP27. Decisions made now regarding infrastructure, building and construction research and finance will affect how climate impacts play out in the future, and immediate and ambitious action is needed — not only to lower emissions, but also to mitigate the impacts of climate change felt across the world now and by future generations trough the 10 principales for effective actions.
