UNEP to participate in European Youth Event - Strasbourg
European Parliament
Event details
Description
UNEP is taking part in the European Youth Event taking place in Strasbourg on 8 and 9 October. This event, organised by the European Parliament, is bringing together 3000 young Europeans in Strasbourg.
UNEP staff is participating in some of the sessions, and is present throughout, at the UN Tent in the information village on the premises of the European Parliament.
The main focus of our exchanges with youth is related to UNEP's GEO6 for youth report, in particular the chapter on Green Jobs, and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. We will be engaging with young Europeans through quizzes and dialogues.
As part of our efforts to grow the #GenerationRestoration movement in Europe, we will also launch a call for stories and ideas from youth on how young people in Europe can help restore ecosystems. This call for personal stories will be open from 8 to 24 October (UN Day) and will be promoted on @UNEP_Europe and @FAOBrussels twitter accounts.
We are asking YOUth to use #GenerationRestoration and #EYE2021 in their social media posts so that they will appear on the website of the UN decade and will be traceable. We will be selecting some inspiring stories for an overview article, as well as a blog post on the UN Decade on the Ecosystem Restoration Website.
Your story might also be picked up in the context of #TheGreenTrack campaign that was launched by the European Commission on October 8th at the EYE2021. [Keep an eye on this page as we will update this information]
We also offer the possibility to submit idea and stories via an online form.
