The United Nations celebrates World Oceans Day every year on 8 June. Every 8 June, we have an opportunity to raise global awareness of the benefits humankind derives from the ocean and our individual and collective duty to use its resources sustainably. Future generations will also depend on the ocean for their livelihoods!
Aquariums, science centers and research institutions, NGOs, communities and governments all around the world mobilize millions of people around events big and small.
Join us for the United Nations World Oceans Day virtual event in celebration of the 2020 theme, Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean.
Produced in partnership with the non-profit organization Oceanic Global, UN World Oceans Day 2020 will be a day-long event featuring keynote speeches, panels, and presentations with leading ocean voices including:
Cara Delevingne; Jean-Michel Cousteau; Sylvia Earle; Forbi Perise Eyong Nyosai; Bill McKibben; Gayatri Reksodihardjo – Lilley; Lilly Platt; and UNEP's Global Goodwill Ambassador Ellie Goulding.

The segment will highlight exciting developments in the world of science, technology and exploration, with a particular focus on deep sea exploration, opportunities for future discoveries and the rapid progress in this field.
