👩⚕️ The Team Europe Democracy Network invites you to join a vital conversation on how mainstreaming integrity measures can strengthen health systems, enhance service delivery, and ensure equitable access to quality care. 🩺💊Corruption in the health sector diverts critical resources, inflates costs, and weakens public trust, ultimately harming the most vulnerable populations. Recent WHO (2023) estimates show that around 7.3% of global health expenditures are lost to corruption, underscoring the urgent need for action. This event will bring together policymakers, practitioners, and civil society representatives to explore actionable strategies for enhancing transparency and accountability in healthcare. By mainstreaming integrity measures, we can safeguard public health investments, improve health outcomes, and reinforce trust in institutions—ensuring that corruption no longer comes at the cost of human lives. 🎤The session will be moderated by colleagues from the World Health Organisation who will help us set the backdrop by describing the global scale of the issue and the urgency we face to tackle it. Colleagues form the EU DG on International Partnerships on mainstreaming anti-corruption measures in this sector through the Global Gateway initiative which is generating significant portfolio development on health in partner-countries. Following this, we have guests from Transparency International and U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre sharing insights in the most critical areas exposed to corruption risks, examples from partner-countries and some basic advice on how to adopt strategies mitigating said risks. The colleagues from U4 will focus on supply chain integrity, while Transparency International has insights in how procurement and decision-making processes are often exploited to benefit corrupted actors engaging in health services. ✉💻If you would like to join this webinar, please send an email to secretariat@teamdemocracy.eu |
