Description
Objectives of the course
The overall objective of this series of webinars on “European Green Deal - Greening EU cooperation” is to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of the European Green Deal and its implications for EU cooperation; and strengthen the capacity of the participants in “Greening EU cooperation” through integrating environment and climate change-related themes into all sectors and all instruments of EU development cooperation.
The specific objectives of this webinar are for participants to:
- Understand recent thinking on the way biodiversity can be integrated into other sectors (transport, energy, cities, water, agriculture, etc.) by making use of ecosystem services in addressing specific sector needs, while conserving biodiversity for a liveable future planet (‘working WITH nature instead of against it’);
- Learn from practical measures for the integration of biodiversity into the wide spectrum of sectors covered by EU assistance, with a focus on the countries covered by the enlargement and neighbourhood policies, to substantially enhance the factoring of biodiversity into Headquarters programmes and projects.
