Event details
Description
The World Cities Day will focus on the theme 'Youth leading climate and local action for cities' to engage young people in urban decision-making and harness their creativity to drive the development of sustainable urbanisation.
This year, young people will advocate for more ambitious steps to address the climate crisis in urban areas, aiming to draw attention on how we can transform bold ideas and targets into tangible achievements.
This initiative launched by the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) in 2014 to shed light on urban challenges and engage the global community in the The New Urban Agenda (Habitat III), which focuses on creating inclusive cities.
Urbanization presents opportunities for new forms of social inclusion, enhancing equality, access to services, and new opportunities for engagement and mobilisation.
