Description
The World Forum on Local Economic Development (WFLED) is part of an open working process that brings together committed governments, national and international organizations, who recognise the potential of local economic development. It fosters joint actions that can help land the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the local level.
This Forum will address the triple - digital, social and economic - transition. In addition to localising the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Forum strengthens global alliances for local economic development effectiveness, including through local and decent work, community welfare and public-private partnerships.
It promotes innovation and collaboration with universities, trade unions, the business sector, social economy initiatives. Political and technical representatives from various levels of government, multilateral agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector are all welcome.
This sixth edition is titled: “Just Transition, financing for development and territorial solutions.” Past editions have focused on local economic development as a conceptual framework, defined as a “development process that promotes partnership agreements between private and public actors in a given territory, allowing the design and joint implementation of a common development strategy and the use of local resources and comparative advantages.”
Past forums have also promoted alternative and more inclusive economic models, such as the Social and Solidarity Economy, the Circular Economy or the Green Economy.
