Accelerating Action to Reduce Climate-Related Disasters – The Road to COP27 Event
The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, the UN Environment Programme, MEP Javi López, MEP Lídia Pereira, MEP Kira Peter-Hansen and MEP Dragoş Pîslaru, are co-hosting a discussion on “Accelerating Action to Reduce Climate-Related Disasters – The Road to COP27” taking place on Tuesday, 17 May 2022, 16.30-17.45, at the European Parliament.
This joint United Nations-European Parliament meeting aims to call for greater political attention on the increase of climate-related disasters in Europe and globally, ahead of the 27th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27). It would serve to jointly exchange on concrete recommendations to address climate and disaster risk in a coherent manner to accelerate the achievement of risk-informed development and the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
The meeting will be held in a hybrid format with an in person presence in the European Parliament, in the room SPINELLI 1G369 and an online connection. Due to the limited capacity of the room, we would like to ask you to limit the in-person attendance to the Heads of UN Agencies and invite other colleagues to connect online.
