Achieving food and nutrition security. Actions to meet the global challenge - A training course reader
This training course reader is the result of a collaborative effort by several German organisations. It covers the main challenges regarding food and nutrition security. The first chapter sets the terms of the debate and presents the main definitions, types of approach, levels and tools for action. The second chapter is an overview of the global food and nutrition security situation. In chapter 3, the Reader presents indicators and tools to analyse food and nutrition security at the macro level, while chapter 4 does the same for the meso and micro levels. Chapter 5 shows how to plan the food and nutrition analysis process. The sixth chapter examines concrete responses from a macro point of view, especially at the national level. Chapter 7 gives an overview of actions aimed at improving the various cornerstones of food and nutrition security (availability, access, use) at the meso and micro levels. It also presents examples of international programmes. Finally, chapter 8 shows how to design and plan response strategies, with a particular focus on linking relief, rehabilitation and development (LRRD).
