Achieving nutritional impact and food security through agriculture. Fact sheet
Library
The USAID through its project IYCN (Infant & Young Child Nutrition) published a set of resources to help agricultural professionals maximise nutritional benefits. Of particular interest, this fact sheet focuses on the relationships between agriculture, food security and nutrition. It provides examples of what works and what does not, serving as a basis for people involved in the design and planning of projects. Two other ressources are available upon request (info@iycn.org):
- Illustrative guidance Integrating household nutrition and food security objectives into proposed agriculture projects: it helps agriculture project designers build nutrition and food security objectives into their activities.
- Nutritional impact assessment tool: it gives quidance on assessing an agriculture project’s likely impacts on the nutrition of vulnerable groups. When it is not possible to include nutrition objectives in the design of a project, conducting a nutritional impact assessment during the planning process can help to avoid unintended negative impacts.
