Agriculture, food security and climate change. Outlook for knowledge, tools and actions
This background paper was prepared for The 2010 Hague Conference on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change on behalf of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) by the Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and the Earth System Science Partnership (ESSP). The review brings together current knowledge of the impacts of climate change on farming and food systems, as well as approaches for managing climate variability and risk now and over the long term. It also assesses knowledge regarding changes in farming practices that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and regarding how these changes can be achieved without compromising farmers' food security and livelihood.
