Cash Transfers and Child Nutrition: What We Know and What We Need to Know. UNICEF 2015
Library
This 20-page research paper from UNICEF (August, 2015) aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the impacts of cash transfer (CT) programs on the immediate and underlying determinants of child nutrition, including recent evidence from impact evaluations across sub-Saharan Africa. The authors include a conceptual model linking CTs and nutrition that is based on the original UNICEF framework first introduced in 1990. They conclude that CTs have positive impacts on food security and health, however impact on other nutrition indicators such as on dietary diversity are mixed and studies are few.
