Chile has undertaken efforts to increase resilience to climate change, mitigate its impacts, and enhance adaptation capacity. Since 2015, Chile has been developing and implementing national and sectoral policies to transition to a low-carbon economy incorporating circular economy principles. A key initiative was the Law on Waste Management, Extended Producer Responsibility and Promotion of Recycling, which aims to reduce waste generation and increase recycling and reuse rates. In 2021, Chile published its ‘Roadmap for a Circular Chile to 2040′ as part of its broader strategy to address climate change and promote sustainable development. In the recent years, Latin America and the Caribbean has been very active in the promotion of circular economy. Reason enough to document the national transition processes. The factsheet is a product of the collaboration of DG International Partnership and the SWITCH to Green Facility with the Circular Economy Coalition for Latin America and the Caribbean. The Coalition responds to the great interest and initiatives on circular economy. In the last few years, the LAC region has been very active in the promotion of circular economy.
