The European Union launched the Global Gateway (GG) strategy in 2021. The GG aims to enhance smart, clean and safe connections in digital, energy and transport sectors while bolstering health, education and research systems globally. The GG is ambitious and seeks to mobilise up to €300 billion for sustainable projects (see also: Global Gateway (europa.eu)). Central to the GG strategy in Africa is to facilitate the development of 12 Transport Corridors to enhance high-potential value chains and economic integration through regional connectivity catalysed through high-impact investments
This synthesis report compiles findings from three technical reports following assessment missions in Cameroon on Corridor 6, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on the Lobito Corridor, and in Uganda on Corridors 8 and 9.
