This initiative supported a multi-stakeholder process based on each country's sustainable development goals and objectives, with a view to ensuring a solid foundation at the national level for implementation of the outcomes of the Rio+20 Conference. It placed  a focus on nationally led and owned exercises that reflect the views of participating stakeholders, hoping that national preparatory processes to Rio+20 would trigger consultative processes that continue beyond June 2012
