Crafting an EU Strategy for Coups
Library
Research Paper
The African continent has observed a notable surge in coup incidents, recording nine instances in the last three years, and other regions like Myanmar and Peru have faced political turbulence. With the escalating frequency of coups, there is an urgent requirement for the European Union and its member states to implement a systematic approach to prevent and address these political disruptions. However, the EU's response to coups is currently disjointed, lacking a unified strategy. The article advocates for a more resilient strategy to counter the growing menace of military takeovers.
