The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB): Scoping Study for Georgia
Library
Policy report / Briefing
Publication Date: September 2013
The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) Initiative aims at promoting a new economy in which the values of natural capital, and the ecosystem services this capital supplies, are fully reflected in public and private decision-making.
This scoping study identifies five core sectors of the Georgian economy: energy, tourism, agriculture, mining, and forestry applicable for the TEEB approach. It shows that nature plays a vital role in sustaining these sectors in Georgia and lays the groundwork for a full TEEB study.
