According to this European Commission report, its EU Youth Strategy (2022-2024) enhanced youth mainstreaming in policy-making, fostered youth-led initiatives, and increased youth participation in EU external actions. Overall, it has empowered young people across Europe.
EU Youth Strategy (2022-2024): Key Achievements at a Glance
- 130 000+ participants in the EU Youth Dialogue
- The Youth Guarantee, European Alliance for Apprenticeships, and ALMA addressed youth unemployment and skills gaps, especially targeting young people who are "Not in Education, Employment, or Training" (NEETs).
- Increased digital empowerment through the "Better Internet for Kids" strategy and the "Digital Services Act", enhancing online safety and digital skills.
- Strong focus on mental health with targeted initiatives improving psychosocial support for young people.
- Expanded participation of under-represented and disadvantaged youths in Erasmus+ initiatives, significantly promoting social inclusion. (A total of 15 million young people took part in Erasmus+ in 2024.)
- €26 billion have been allocated to Erasmus+, €11 billion to the European Social Fund Plus, and €66 billion via NextGenerationEU directly supporting youth in education, employment, and social inclusion.
