EUTR: It works with FSC - German Article in the Holzzentralblatt (2nd Nov. 2012)
This article (in German) describes the implementation of a DDS in practical ways in a company and how the FSC certification system can help to implement each step. A flow chart shows a step by step how to go about when an operator plans to order timber products. A crucial recomendation is to undertake two DDS cycles: one when an order is planned to be placed and second when the shipment has been received. In conclusion, FSC certified or FSC controlled wood comes with all information needed for the DDS and in case of an origin with non-neglegible risk also with the appropriate risk mitigation. Buyers of FSC certified and FSC controlled wood are well prepared for the 3rd of March this year!

Dear Malessa,
Answering your comment, and just based on what you are saying, as I do not speak German, I would like to add the following clarification to your post:
"Third party certification, such as FSC and other third party verified schemes, can be used as a tool in the risk assessment and risk mitigation process if operators assess them as sufficiently credible; certificates, however, are not an evidence of legality and do not absolve operators from the obligation of collecting information and assessing all mitigation factors as required by the EUTR and the Commission Implementing regulation".
Without wishing to provoke a controversial debate, I thought it was important to make this statement clear.
