Good and Best Practice Definitions - FAO - (2013)
This document defines the concepts of a "good" practice, and of a "best practice", according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. It explains that in order for an organization to adapt to change and improve over time, it must analyze its past activities, determining which actions have value moving forward, and which do not. The former are "good" practices, actions taken by the organization that not only were helpful for them at the time, but could be helpful actions to take in the future. The Food and Agriculture Organization is a worldwide entity that takes on major problems of famine, drought, and agricultural difficulties all over the world, and it believes that this analysis of good practices is a key part of its operation.
Meanwhile, "best" practices are good practices that are so valuable, they cannot be improved upon further. FAO recommends that any best practices identified should be incorporated into the day-to-day operations of an organization.
