Guidebook: Participatory Assessment of Vulnerability and Adaptation (2012)

“The Participatory Assessment of Vulnerability and Adaptation (V&A) is a core component of the overall PACE-SD V&A Assessment and Action Methodology. It is a comprehensive and participatory assessment that guides communities through a process in which to identify appropriate and sustainable activities to enhance their adaptive capacity to the impacts of climate change.”

 We like this document because it emphasizes placing the community at the core of assessment and decision-making and because its Annexes include templates for documents used during the assessment. We suggest this guide to anyone interested in: vulnerability and adaptation assessments; rapid participatory assessment; vulnerability to climate change in the Pacific, and; vulnerability to climate change in coastal and island areas.
