Highlights from Million Fed. Proven successes in agricultural development
This book examines how policies, programs, and investments in pro-poor agricultural development have helped to substantially reduce food insecurity in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The 20 success stories presented here provide lessons for fighting against food insecurity and malnutrition. The case studies were chosen through a process that included an open call for nominations, a literature review, and expert consultations. More than 250 candidate case studies were examined using a set of criteria that took into account such issues as scale, impact, and sustainability. Ultimately, the project identified 20 proven successes. These spanned from interventions enhancing productivity to combating diseases and pests, conserving natural resources, expanding market opportunities, improving human nutrition, and improving the policy environment. A common thread running through many of these success stories is the confluence of science, policy, and leadership.
You can download on IFPRI's website a summary of the main finding and of each case study.
