How to report on Migration and other global issues? A guide for journalists

The EU DEAR-funded project “Minority Rights” produced a toolkit for journalists and communication specialists who work on migration issues: https://coveringmigration.com/
The guidelines inspire a more nuanced coverage of migration and other global issues. They shift away from simplifications of complex contexts, away from ‘headline’ issues, and how to convince editors to publish less mainstream stories. They emphasise giving a voice to local communities, experts and activists, and how to find them.
Pick up tips such as where to find a local “fixer” to access the people and places you need in foreign countries: www.worldfixer.com or www.hostwriter.org
The toolkit includes checklists on the following.
5. Effective desk-based research.
6. Tips for collecting findings
For example, the attached document shows the “inclusive reporting” checklist.
