Human Development and Decent Work: Why some concepts work, and some don't - CNDT - (2013)
This document from the Center for New Development Thinking (CNDT) examines which factors have contributed to the relative success or failure of human development and decent work. Authored by Brian Burchell of the University of Cambridge, it is a thorough analysis of which concepts have the largest impact on what he calls "the Development Agenda". This is a conceptual document, that helps provide an understanding of the theoretical concepts in the field of human development. However, it's not a document someone who has little understanding of the subject would benefit from. The author stresses that the most dangerous reason for failure is a lack of commitment on the part of organizations like the ILO and UN to fulfill their missions and outlined strategies - commitment, in his mind, is the most important quality that a project requires.
