                This article is the most recent synthesis of the compilations on the informal economy worldwide. It is based on the recent compilations by the Bureau of Statistics of the ILO and the national accounts section of the UN statistics division as well as on original national data. Employment in the informal economy reveals to be as high as 58% to 70% of non-agricultural employment at regional level (the informal sector representing from 50% to 80% of the informal economy) and the informal sector is contributing to non-agricultural GDP from 25% up to 50%.
