International Youth White Paper on Global Citizenship
1300 young people from across the globe contributed to the this white paper of the Belfast-based Centre for Global Education. They described what they find relevant in the design, delivery and evaluation of projects related to global challenges and citizenship. Rather than promoting an individual feel-good citizenship, they call for a global citizenship education (GCE) that addresses “root causes and the complexity of non-traditional collaborations.”
Young people showed a strong do it yourself (DIY)-mentality when it comes to their civic engagement. Driven by concrete action, local experiences and direct interactions, they find it essential to develop and maintain a focus on a ‘learning-by-doing’ approach.
The white paper was published in 2017.
