This toolkit equips youth multipliers and educators with practical activities and contextual insights on Media Literacy (ML) as a key dimension of Global Education (GE). It provides tools to critically analyse media messages, understand algorithms, and engage responsibly in digital societies—empowering learners to become active and conscious global citizens.
Developed with a strong focus on non-formal education, yet adaptable to schools, the toolkit integrates the latest developments in Global Education, Media Literacy, and Digital Citizenship Education. All proposed activities are aligned with the Council of Europe’s Competences for Democratic Culture and Human Rights approach.
The resource includes:
- Warming-up activities to introduce Media Literacy in GE training.
- Four thematic fact sheets and activity guides on:
- News manipulation
- Search algorithms and worldviews
- Responsible participation
- Digital footprints
- Handouts, tips, tools and links to further reports, toolkits, videos and infographics.
- A conceptual introduction to Media Literacy and its role in strengthening Global Education, democratic participation, and the SDGs
