The Millennium Development Goals Report 2010
This report reviews the progress made and the short-falls remaining on the road towards meeting the MDG (Millennium Development Goals) in 2015, a few weeks before the MDG Review Summit in September. For each goal, the report makes a detailed review and analysis of indicators and statistics. On a negative note, the report shows the unmet commitments, inadequate resources, lack of focus and accountability of governments. Improvements in the lives of the poor have been slow, and gains are being eroded by the climate, food and economic crises. On a positive note, however, it shows that progress has been made in some domains, such as children's schooling in primary education, fight against HIV/AIDS and malaria, children's health, and access to drinking water. The report concludes that the Goals could be achievable if nationally owned development strategies, policies and programmes are supported by international development partners.
