The neglected crisis of undernutrition: Evidence for action
The document first looks at the scale of undernutrition and its determinants and impacts in developing countries. Then it presents the results of past interventions addressing undernutrition and draw lessons and recommendations from these to apply to future interventions, and particularly pitfalls to avoid.
This study emphasises the need to obtain more assessment data to improve policies and measures for addressing undernutrition. It ends by opening up the debate on the lack of coherence, harmonisation and integration of policies, the lack or resources and the lack of involvement of political decision-makers, all of which are obstacles to addressing the problem of undernutrition. However, successful experiences show that something can be done.
