No women, no peace: Media’s role in the Women, Peace and Security Agenda
Library
Research Paper
The report examines the critical role of media in promoting the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda. It explores how media can amplify women’s voices in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. It highlights the efforts of women leaders in Colombia, Syria, and Myanmar who contributed to gender-sensitive and conflict-aware reporting. Through collaborations with media outlets, the project developed guidelines for gender-sensitive journalism and involved women social leaders in producing content. The report also discusses challenges such as gender-based violence in conflict zones and the importance of ensuring media visibility for women in peace processes, stressing that without women's full participation, lasting peace cannot be achieved.
