The webinar, "Introduction to the concepts of social and environmental safeguards for mining activities in or adjacent to protected areas", organised by NaturAfrica West Africa on 3 July 2025, provided a brief introduction to the topic. Following an introduction to the concepts of social and environmental safeguards, an example of responsible mining and a presentation on the use of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and Strategic Environmental and Social Assessments (SESAs) as decision-making tools were provided.
