ROSA News No. 54 - English

This issue No. 54 of ROSA News which arrived directly in your email inboxes includes an Editorial. The zoom article No women, no development, no dignity reports on the Step It Up event which took place on 16 December 2016, featuring an interview with Willem Olthof and Lourdes Magana de Larriva of the EU Delegation in Rome.

This issue  gives extra coverage of women and gender in food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture with the blogs Back women's movements for a real chance at equality which features an article by Henrietta Miers published by SciDevNet on 28 January 2017; and Farmer field school help women to lead on climate change which focuses on the EU-FAO Global Climate Change Project in Uganda. More current blogs and resources to follow during the month.

Stefano Manservisi, the Director-General for International Cooperation and Development, shares his views on the agricultural and food security challenges facing the EU and its African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) country partners in the  article Agriculture in ACP countries, a top priority for the EUpublished in Spore magazine on 19 January 2017. In addition, this section on EC latest News includes information on the EU’s Annual Action Programmes for Bangladesh and Pakistan in 2016-2017 and on the Action Improving nutrition and reducing stunting in Eastern Sudan, all announced in December 2016.

Past events
In terms of coverage of past events, this issue covers the Brussels Development Briefing 47: Regional Trade in Africa, the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development, Annual General Assembly which will be the subject of the zoom article in next month’s issue of ROSA News, and Renforcer les services en gestion de la santé animale et en sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, an InfoPoint lunch time conference from January 2017.

These events include Creating Impact with Open Data in Agriculture and Nutrition 13-15 February 2017, Land and Poverty Conference 2017: Responsible Land Governance - Towards an Evidence Based Approach 20-24 March 2017 and the 3rd International Conference on Global Food Security which will take place on 8-11 October 2017.

Other new resources
In this issue, we highlight eight new publications. Lessons learned
