SPaN (2019) Case Study: Mauritania
The production of this case study was funded by the European Commission’s Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) and implemented by WFP. This country case study was drafted by Gabrielle Smith, independent consultant. WFP is indebted to the efforts of WFP and FAO Bangladesh and its country partners who supported this initiative: Botagoz Nartayeva and Halima Neyamat (FAO); Rezaul Karim and Abdus Sobhan (WFP); Carlos Acosta (UNICEF); Mokit Billah and Suranga Mallawa (ECHO); and Alexandra MacLean (DFID). WFP also extends thanks to the SPIAC-B members (World Bank, DFID, ECHO, UNICEF, WFP, FAO) who acted as Technical Advisory Group to the TA Facility at global level.
The Mauritania case study is also part of the “Guidance Package on Social Protection across the Humanitarian Development Nexus” (SPaN). The Guidance Package initiative is jointly led by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO), Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) and Directorate- General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) with the support of DEVCO Unit 04 and the MKS programme.
