Study on skills development in the informal economy
The study has been commissioned by DEVCO B3 and carried out by Richard Walther. It is written in French with executive summary in English, includes a review of existing works on the subject, a description of the context facing countries with a large informal economy, the present situation of skills development in the informal economy in developing countries and considerations on how skills development systems could be reformed.
The study is based on previous field surveys conducted in countries where economies are characterised by a highly informal dimension and among economic actors themselves in order to demonstrate that efforts to raise the level of knowledge and skills have notable effects on income growth and the quality of their products and services.
