UNDP Final Report - Consultancy to assess the current hazard mapping capacity and effectiveness of scenario based tools for long term planning mechanisms

This report has been produced through partnership between Cooperazione Internationale (COOPI), Malawi and the University of Salzburg’s Centre for Geoinformatics (Z_GIS), Austria.Funded by United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, it is a report of a systematic and comprehensive consultancy study to "assess the existing capabilities and related geo-spatial datasets, including a gap analysis, in order to develop a long-term adaptation plan and materialise within it a set of usable tools and methodologies". This is to enable the development of climate-related hazard and vulnerability maps and scenarios to manage the inherent uncertainties of climate change. The study addresses the gaps identified in the aforementioned assessment. The consultancy includes the use of appropriate GIS and Earth Observation (EO) technologies adapted to the objectives of the Malawi government's two-year project ‘Building Capacity for Integrated and Comprehensive Approaches to Climate Change Adaptation in Malawi (AAP Malawi)’.
