| In the provinces of Haut-Katanga and Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the mining sector drives the economy, attracting major international investments - including EU investments, and offering vast local employment opportunities. Key industries like construction, transport, hospitality, and digital services support mining and have the potential to create jobs. However, a lack of skilled local workers poses challenges for investors. Enabel addresses this gap as part of the VET Toolbox programme by providing targeted training and fostering dialogue between public and private stakeholders, boosting local employment prospects and economic participation.
