I am a civil society, Faith-based organization, and Human Rights activist with over 18 years of experience in peace-building, social cohesion, political and electoral processes, conflict management and transformation, gender, Human rights, and development. I served as Secretary General of the Civil Society Coalition for Electoral Monitoring in Burundi (2005 - 2022) and as a short and long-term electoral observer in Africa (2005 - 2016). I have an Extensive experience in field program/project management and development, coordination, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning; qualitative data collection methods; Public policy analysis; training, and capacity building and development. I have been involved and/or conducted research, training, Experience sharing, and policy work on a wide range of peacebuilding and reconciliation including early warning and response, community resilience, non-violence, radicalization, extremism, conflict transformation, and transitional justice and reconciliation. I have a large experience with International organizations including the United Nations Agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UNDEF, UNHCR, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNAIDS, UNWOMEN, OHCHR), bilateral cooperation (USAID, JICA), international NGOs, African and Regional Economic Integration blocks (ICGRL, AU, EAC, SADC), etc.
I served as Programs Coordinator for almost fourteen years (2008 – 2022) of Religions for Peace – Burundi. During that period, I also served as the Country focal person of both the African Council of Religious Leaders (Religions for Peace – Africa) and the Religions for Peace International (New York). I worked as the Burundi coordinator of the Community Richer in Diversity Project (CRID Project) founded by the European Union (November 2018 – March 2022). I served as Burundi focal person/coordinator for the Eastern Africa Child Rights Network. I worked with Save the Children and Plan International on several projects and programs at the sub-regional and Continental levels (Africa). I’m an Alumni member of the Global Exchange of Religions in Society Project (GERIS project) Network founded by the European Union. (Thematic group: Transitional Justice and Reconciliation).
I’ve been also working, with a proven record, on consulting and engaging with political and religious leaders and decision-makers from governments, non-governmental organizations, International NGOs, academia, civil society, and community-based organizations.
I hold a diploma/degree in Mathematics (2001) and in Political Science/International Relations (2018) from the National School of Civil Servants (Ecole National d’Administration, ENA – Burundi). I earned many certificates among others UNESCO Chair of the International Human Rights Law and International Refugee Law (2009) from the University of Abomey Calavi – Cotonou Benin; and a certificate in Governance, Elections, and Conflict of the African Peacebuilding Coordination Program from the African Center for Constructive Resolution of Disputes, ACCORD, and certificate in Bio-logistics (Biopharma and Biomedical Logistics and Transport (FOREM-Belgium).
