
Anita Breuer has a PhD in Political Science and a Master in Latin American Studies. Since 2011, she holds a position as senior researcher at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) where she currently works in the project „Protecting Democracy in times of Autocratization and Polarization” financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Her research focuses on the impact of digitalization on the quality of democracy, as well as on political behavior and collective action. Anita’s research on these topics has been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as World Development, Democratization, Sustainability, the Journal of Information Technologies and Politics, and the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries among others.
