Paul Nolan is a communications strategist and journalist with over 15 years of experience spanning European institutions, peace and mediation organisations, and international media. Based in Nairobi, he works at the intersection of geopolitics, diplomacy, and strategic communications.
His career includes senior roles at the Brussels Institute for Geopolitics (BIG), the European Institute of Peace, and the European Green Party, where he led communications strategy, advised senior executives and political leaders and managed media relations across European and international outlets. Earlier, he worked in journalism at several media organisations, including Associated Press, Al Jazeera and Radio France Internationale (RFI) where he was a correspondent covering Kenya's 2013 elections.
Paul has a particular interest in how communications can strengthen the effectiveness of international cooperation and peacebuilding efforts, having worked closely with the EEAS, the European Commission, and European Parliament throughout his career. He is currently completing postgraduate study in Global Digital Humanities at the University of St Andrews and is an active Swahili learner engaged with Kenyan culture and society.
