Rand Al-Khushman, Agricultural Engineer and a young Jordanian activist on climate justice and climate change issues.
I have a bachelor’s degree in water resources and environmental management. I am working as a program coordinator for the STEM Green Labs Program with IREX Jordan, which aims to empower 20 teachers and 240 students at 10 of Jordan’s underserved public schools with multi-disciplinary STEM and problem-based learning PBL skills to design climate change solutions in their communities.
Also, I am the leader and founder of the "Youth4Climate" Initiative, which aims to raise awareness about climate change issues in Jordan using different tools such as: research, street interviews with our community, peer-to-peer trainings on the importance of climate change, adaptation, and sustainability, live talks on the social media, including debates and discussion sessions, since we are the most impacted group and it’s funded by ActionAid Arab Region AAAR and Global Platform GP.
Youth4Climate initiative is working to improve the knowledge and awareness of our local communities since the global change cannot be achieved without local change! I participated in numerous researches, sessions, events, and initiatives that could assist in addressing this global issue, and I'm always encouraging young people in my community to be equipped with the skills and knowledge that will bring us the change of the present and future, as we will be the future leaders who lead the climate action, so let's start now because we don't have another country to live in; we must take responsibility of our country's nature, resources, and climate.
Also, I did research with the Environmental and Climate Change Department about "How Household Waste Behaviors Contribute to Climate Change? with Lazord Foundation.
Always I remind myself and others: the less we do to address climate change now, the more regulation we will have in the future.
