I am a passionate landscape and urbanism expert with extensive research and project experience in inclusive urban/city/street development. I love using my skills and experiences to help communities create vibrant, equitable, and sustainable places to live, work, and play. Working in Mekelle University's School of Architecture and Urban Planning, I am currently completing my Ph.D. in Landscape and Urbanism at Università Iuav di Venezia in Venice, Italy. My research focuses on transforming streets into inclusive spaces that prioritize people over cars, exploring strategies for creating truly inclusive streets that cater to diverse needs and abilities. I have been engaged in practical and academic both nationally and internationally such as in research projects, design manual preparations, and consultancy projects.
I am highly interested in research and design works related to sustainable city developments focused on city livability, placemaking, public space, sustainable mobility, and circular economy. For that matter, I have experienced the Dutch approaches to sustainability through project/research visits and postgraduate studies. I am also an experienced dean with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. I am awardee of IJURR writing-up 2024.
