I am Yonous Muhammadi, a refugee-led civil society leader and Managing Director of the Greek Forum of Refugees (GFR), a national network of refugee and migrant communities in Greece. For more than 20 years I have worked at the intersection of asylum, integration, participation and human rights, combining lived experience with program delivery, organizational development and policy advocacy.
In my organization, I lead EU-funded and private-funded projects (AMIF, CERV, Erasmus+, Horizon and others) and support proposal development, partnerships and project management. A key part of my work is strengthening meaningful participation through community-led methods, including GFR’s Self-Advocacy Team (SAT) and Democracy4all, which train community members and create structured consultation and co-design processes with municipalities, institutions and political actors.
At European level, I contribute to policy and civic space discussions through roles including Migration and Asylum Expert Group of European Commission, the European Migration Forum Bureau, and board memberships in ECRE and the European Civic Forum, as well as participation in EUAA expert processes.
On Capacity4dev, I’m interested in exchanging practical tools and good practices on refugee and migrant participation, inclusive governance, countering negative narratives, community mobilisation, and partnership building. I’m open to peer learning, joint events, and collaboration opportunities.
