The big Hungarian Student Sustainability Quiz
News details

Over 23 000 young people across Hungary took part in the “Big Student Sustainability Quiz”. With 67% of contestants from small towns, the campaign went far beyond the capital Budapest.
The 150 questions addressed food waste, resource depletion, energy and meat consumption, recycling, biodiversity loss and more environmental issues. Participants received a practical guide on how to contribute to a more sustainable planet - individually and as part of a community. All was compiled by a team of experts on water and environmental security from the Hungarian National University of Public Services.
The 32nd National Youth Press Festival set the stage for the award ceremony. Adel Varga won a premium bicycle for reaching the summit of the three-round nation-wide quiz. Four other girls and five boys also made it to the finals. NOPLANETB partner Hungarian Baptist Aid was active with a stand and many interviews to spread their messages via radio, podcasts, and social media livestreams.
The online quiz was held on a Hungarian website for highschool quizzes and the “Big Student Quizzes” mobile app. Inviting 14 to 24 year olds to participate, the quiz was most popular among 17 year olds. It was organised jointly by the DUE Media Network and NOPLANETB’s partner Hungarian Baptist Aid.
