International Networking Meeting in Vienna

On 20 May 2025, a diverse group of stakeholders from the global education sector gathered in Vienna to exchange ideas on Global Citizenship Education (GCE), Education for Sustainable Development, and the digital implementation of transnational education projects.

Whether over coffee and cake in the lobby, during workshop breaks, or at the vibrant networking marketplace, participants had plenty of opportunities to share ideas and plan joint DCYDE! educational activities.

“We’re looking for partners from the so-called Global South to work on projects such as a sustainable fashion show in schools or youth organisations,” said Anna Hachenberg, GCE Coordinator at Eine Welt Netzwerk Thüringen. “We’ve already had the chance to connect with someone from The Gambia – a great opportunity for future collaboration!”

In total, representatives from over 20 countries took part in the event – including Belarus, Kenya, Slovenia, and Ecuador. The workshops were as diverse as the participants themselves. Through interactive formats, attendees explored how gamification can enhance engagement in digital GCE formats, discussed strategies for integrating global sustainability goals using digital tools, and learned from successful educational initiatives from Africa and other world regions.

Alongside the networking event, a session of the DCYDE! Train-the-Trainer programme also took place in Vienna. This gave international participants and facilitators a valuable opportunity to meet in person and bring fresh energy into the upcoming online training sessions. The DCYDE! project team also convened in Vienna to reflect on milestones achieved and to look ahead to future goals.
