Food waste at London's Natural History Museum
News details
Food Wave - Cooperation established with one of the world’s leading scientific institutions. A pop-up on sustainable food designed by youth for youth.

In March 2023, the DEAR project "Food Wave", together with a local partner ReLondon, managed to set up a dynamic pop-up run by youth for youth at London’s Natural History Museum during the festival "Generation Hope: Act for the Planet". The museum, with two million visitors annually, is the most popular indoor attraction in the United Kingdom.
The "Food Wave" team engaged over a thousand young museum visitors in debates on tackling climate change through food, starting with daily habits at home. From reducing food waste to embracing planet-friendly diets, young people learned how they can help tackle climate change - one meal at a time.
Hundreds of visitors co-developed sustainable recipes on the spot and visualised their sustainable meals with "Food Wave" artists. Furthermore, several workshops engaged 50 participants in using vegetable tops and ends and cardboard food packaging to produce upcycled mini-notebooks.
